Discover The 'Original' You

I was eating some groundnuts. It was a bit hard to crack the skin as it was tough, but the seeds inside were really tasty. It led me to think of a baby's face looking so sweet, innocent and pure. Remember you and me were once looking like that, that is, before we start adding on layers and layers of 'skin" - acquired norms, perceptions, habits and so on. If I could strip off my outer skin, go deep into our souls to search for the original 'me', wouldn't I be the innocent, sweet and lovable being again? Just when have I lost that loveliness?

Well, easy said than done, for most people are scared to remove their armors, scared to bare their souls. Why? They are afraid that others might take advantage of them. But in actual fact, when we are our good selves, it doesn't mean that we're defenseless. There is still strength and wisdom in being sweet, innocent, humble, sincere, and loving. I notice that those people who are successful are those who are humble, able to withstand insults, slow to anger, and always ready to smile. In contrast, the loud and showy ones seem to win all the arguments in public forums, but they are not chosen to lead in the end!

You may think that humble people are weak, but they get on with lots of people under them. They may not be always agreeable with your views but they never fail to listen, and always show their appreciation. You may think these people don't have the backbone to say what they want to say, but truly strong people can stand humiliation and differences in opinions. They know that in managing, often there is no such thing as right or wrong, but having an open mind, patience and tolerance with those under them, and serving with an obedient spirit to those above them, is indirectly serving the Almighty God with an obedient spirit, for the Bible teaches all the above traits.

However, in the marketplace, some may be just 'apple polishing' but if they also work hard and are responsible, you have to admire them. These people never argue but they present their views with calm and in an unaffected manner. They don't see the need to protect their ego or image, because they're strong. If they also believe in God, knowing that they are right with God makes them feel even more assured of who they are. Imagine if everyone wants their opinions to be the solutions, there will be no direction and no unity in any organization.

So remove the armor and relax, be the real loving, sweet and strong YOU. And God will favor you even when human beings may despise. He will give you peace!
